WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL SITE OF BOBBY REAL
Born and raised in Alaska I was inspired by Buck and Merinda Gascon, my parents, whom were both artists. Deep winters in the interior of Alaska kept us inside most days with plenty of time for art & crafts, music, and most importantly, family. I worked as a longshoreman and deck hand out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska for much of my young adult life. This eventually led me to an overseas journey to Fukuoka, Japan with the company I worked with at the time. During my three months in Japan, I was so overwhelmingly inspired by my beautiful surroundings, and a culture so steeped in art, that I knew I had to do art for a living.
I moved to California in the winter of '91 and quickly began looking for an apprenticeship to became a tattoo artist. The art of Tattoo was such an amazing idea to me and it was definitely a way for me to share my art with the world. I just had to find the right teacher to guide me! Fast forward more than a decade, and finally I find my teacher. I completed a two and a half year apprenticeship under Sean Dawley in South Lake Tahoe and quickly went on to open Cartel Ink Works in Carmichael, CA. I've had the privilege and good fortune of being inspired by some of the most amazing artists in the decade Cartel Ink Works was open. I find myself now at this newest chapter in my life dedicating my time completely to my art, love and fitness.
Over the years I have also performed as a bass player for NorCal bands such as DedVolt, The Council and more. My fitness career has consisted of placing in competitions such as Contra Costa NPC and NPC San Francisco.
I will update this portion of my site with more details soon. Thanks for checking me out.
